Today Marks an Interesting Anniversary for Red Dead Redemption 2

This year, October 16 marked the eighth anniversary since Rockstar Games first teased Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2016. Red Dead Redemption 2 would go on to become one of Rockstar Games’ most revered games of all time, alongside the ever-popular Grand Theft Auto 5.Released in October 2018 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Red Dead Redemption 2 is a prequel to 2010’s Red Dead Redemption. Set in 1899, Red Dead Redemption 2 lets players explore the Wild West as Arthur Morgan, a member of the notorious Van der Linde gang, as the 20th century approaches. One year after the game’s console launch, Rockstar Games released Red Dead Redemption 2 on Steam with 4K support, higher frame rates, and HDR in November 2019. Red Dead Redemption 2 still serves as a useful gaming benchmark for PC hardware, thanks to the game’s vast open world and demanding performance settings. It’s also worth noting that both Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption 2 don’t have native PS5 or Xbox Series X|S versions, but it can be played via backwards compatibility. Close Interest in the Red Dead Redemption series appears to be very high leading into the upcoming PC release, but it seems like a potential Red Dead Redemption 3 might be many years away from releasing. Rumors suggest that Grand Theft Auto 6 could be released in fall 2025, but fans should wait until Rockstar Games is ready to share official information.
