It Takes Two developer Hazelight Studios has officially teased its next game. The renowned studio is set to celebrate its 10th anniversary next month, and it seems fans of 2021 Game of the Year winner It Takes Two won’t have to wait very long to learn about what Hazelight has been cooking up since.Founded in 2014 by film director Josef Fares, Hazelight Studios has carved out a big name for itself in the co-operative multiplayer genre. 2018’s A Way Out was the Swedish studio’s breakout hit, and 2021’s It Takes Two was an even bigger success. Not only did it take home the coveted Game of the Year award, but Hazelight also announced recently that It Takes Two has surpassed 20 million sales since launch. Fans of the studio have been wondering about its next adventure, and their patience may finally be rewarded soon. 8:56 Related The Best Co-Op Games To Play After Beating It Takes Two It Takes Two is one of the best co-op games out there right now, but there are some other great co-op games to turn to after completing it. Over on Twitter, Josef Fares dropped a cryptic tease about Hazelight’s next game, confirming that it will be a “brand-new IP called S**** ******N.” Fares also mentioned that he “can’t wait to show it soon,” possibly implying that the formal announcement of Hazelight’s next game may coincide with the studio’s 10th anniversary this November. There’s also the 2024 Game Awards ceremony in December, which would be a serendipitous full-circle moment after It Takes Two’s Game of the Year win three years ago. Hazelight's Next Game After It Takes Two is Seemingly Continuing the Studio's Co-Op Streak The teases don’t end there, as Hazelight’s official Twitter account quoted Fares’ tweet with an image of a script with several redacted clues and post-its scattered around it. The words “New IP” take center stage and the title is expectedly left blank. However, the game’s release date is mentioned below as “202X,” the publisher is confirmed to be EA Originals, and the post-it on the top left contains the word “co-op” among some others, most likely confirming that Hazelight’s next game will build on its strengths from A Way Out and It Takes Two. Close Interestingly, the words “Mio” and “Zoe” can also be seen in the top right, possibly hinting at the protagonists’ names in Hazelight’s upcoming co-op title. These characters may have also been teased in an image shared by Josef Fares in 2022, which showed off two actresses in motion capture suits next to the It Takes Two director. Story-driven co-op games of the same pedigree as It Takes Two and A Way Out are hard to come by these days, so fans are understandably hyped about the reveal of Hazelight’s next game in the following months.
