Star Citizen Update Adding Monster Hunting Feature

Cloud Imperium Games has confirmed that monster hunting is coming to Star Citizen in a future update to the game. With Star Citizen still in Alpha, it continues to receive plenty of new features from its developer. The ongoing development of Star Citizen has been the focus of plenty of criticism over the years. Players have been able to play parts of the game since 2013, but there is no sign of a concrete release date any time soon. Star Citizen continues to receive cash via crowdfunding, raising the most crowdfunded money in gaming history. Some have accused the game of feature-creep, with more ideas being added to Star Citizen, only delaying the release further. Despite this, hardcore Star Citizen fans don’t seem deterred by these issues, and excitement for the game and its potential continues to grow among its community. At the recent CitizenCon 2954, Cloud Imperium Games confirmed that monster hunting will be coming to the game in a future update with an epic cinematic trailer. It begins with the preparation for the hunt, before heading into a sequence showing what it could look like to play. Both land and aerial vehicles are shown here, indicating that players could be able to use their expensive in-game items while monster hunting. Star Citizen Monster Hunting Feature Announced Frankly, it looks as though Star Citizen’s monster hunting could be an extremely intense experience, with obvious comparisons to be drawn to sandworm encounters in Dune. At least, that’s how the trailer makes it look at an early glance. Native animals were added to Star Citizen back in May, and this seems like the natural next step to come to the game. It’ll be awesome to see it in action in-game, although no date has currently been given for a potential release date for monster hunting. Star Citizen has a lot on its plate at the moment, so it could still be some time away. Close After over a decade in development, it’s hard to believe that there’s still virtually no roadmap for a 1.0 release of Star Citizen. With its ever-expanding scope, it’s almost certainly years away yet. Earlier this year, Star Citizen developer Cloud Imperium Games was hit with layoffs, despite the game’s gargantuan amount of money raised over the years. The long-term effect that this has had on the game remains to be seen, although considering the developer continues to announce new features for Star Citizen, it certainly doesn’t seem to have stifled its ambition.
