Silent Hill 2 Remake is Already a Big Hit

Konami recently announced that the Silent Hill 2 remake has exceeded one million sales across PlayStation 5 and PC. This makes the modernized version of Silent Hill 2 a record-breaking entry in the series and potentially bodes well for fans who want to see more Silent Hill remakes in the future. When the Silent Hill 2 remake was announced back in 2022, there was a lot of trepidation among fans since Bloober Team was confirmed to be handling it. The Polish studio last released The Medium in 2020 to lukewarm reviews, inciting concerns about the quality of the Silent Hill 2 remake. Now that the Silent Hill 2 remake has launched to widespread critical acclaim, though, Silent Hill fans are commending Bloober for a rendition that’s very faithful to the original, yet meaningfully expands upon it. Commercial performance is the remaining half of the success equation, and it seems the Silent Hill 2 remake is putting up impressive numbers on that front as well. Over on Twitter, the official Japanese Silent Hill account recently confirmed that the Silent Hill 2 remake has surpassed one million units sold on PS5 and PC. This data is accurate as of October 11, 2024, three days after the Silent Hill 2 remake’s October 8 launch. Silent Hill 2 Remake is the Fastest Selling Entry in the Series Selling one million units in three days is an incredible accomplishment, especially for a remake of an IP that’s been mostly inactive for years. The Silent Hill 2 remake takes it one step further, though, as it’s now the fastest-selling Silent Hill game in the franchise’s history. This will most likely be a massive boost to Bloober’s reputation and Konami’s willingness to remake more Silent Hill titles, potentially even through a deeper partnership with the Polish studio. It remains to be seen how the Silent Hill 2 remake sells over a longer period of time, but as of right now, it seems Konami is quite happy with its performance. Close Many Silent Hill fans are also very happy with the news, as they believe it could signal a new beginning for the iconic horror franchise. That certainly appears plausible, especially with new projects like Silent Hill Townfall and Silent Hill f on the horizon. Konami reportedly has another unannounced Silent Hill game in the works as well, and with the success of the Silent Hill 2 remake, it wouldn’t be too surprising if the Japanese publisher is looking to greenlight even more.
